Tanger Med or Tanger Ville?
Tanger Med is a large modern port on the coast east of the city. Tanger Ville is the city-centre port where ferries from Tarifa arrive. Check the port on your ticket carefully: they are almost an hour apart.
Ways to get to Tangier
Taxi: taxis wait at the passenger exit. Agree on the fare before you get in.
Bus + taxi: the cheapest option, but it involves a change and more time, which is awkward with suitcases or children.
Private transfer: a driver waits with a name sign, tracks the ferry and drops you at your hotel door or as close as possible to your riad.

Our advice
Arrivals can run late depending on the weather in the Strait: with a booked transfer the driver tracks the boat and waiting is included. If you are heading on to Chefchaouen or Tetouan, Tanger Med is a good starting point anyway.
