About twenty minutes from the centre, Cap Spartel marks the northwestern tip of Africa, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. Just south, the Caves of Hercules open onto the ocean through a gap whose shape recalls the map of Africa.
The road then follows the Atlantic coast to Asilah, less than an hour from Tangier: a white medina inside Portuguese ramparts, murals, and fish restaurants by the sea.
Short version available: Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules in half a day, back through the Rmilat forest.
